Xevious is one of my fondest memories on the Nintendo Entertainment System. This simple vertical scrolling shooter was my first experience into this genre. Later on I would learn to fall in love with more complicated vertical scrolling shooters like Ikaruga. Xevious would always stay in my heart, however, as the staple of this kind of game. Enemies will fly at you from all angles obstructing you and shooting bullets in every direction to catch you off guard. Another fun thing about the game is that it was one of the first to have secrets not mentioned in the instructions making it a surprise at every turn. This game is very fast paced and its difficulty level increases rapidly throughout the levels. I would recommend this game for the hardcore gamer or the NES collector. |
